Pediatric Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a safe and very effective, hands-on technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into the restrictions found in our connective tissue to eliminate pain and restore motion. Many people of all ages experience myofascial pain caused by muscular irritation, trauma, inflammation, postural deformity, and surgeries. Pediatric Myofascial release is beneficial for children of all ages, especially for the treatment of head injuries, cerebral palsy, torticollis, birth trauma, scoliosis, trauma, pain, headaches and movement dysfunction.
40-, 60- and 90-minute sessions available. Session times will be adjusted per child’s tolerance
What to Expect
Whether an infant, toddler or older child, parents are a part of the process as their presence helps make their child at ease. Throughout the treatment, the parent will be present…asking permission to proceed for the child and parent to remain comfortable. Fascial restrictions will gentle be held, waiting for the body to naturally let go of the restrictions and move into the next position of release. The therapist may ask questions about the child’s health history along the way to better facilitate the healing process. While very young children may have limited ways in which they can express themselves, the therapist gently guides the process with the parent’s assistance to achieve a harmonious outcome and better facilitate the healing process.
