Pediatric Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a safe and very effective, hands-on technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Many people of all ages experience myofascial pain caused by muscular irritation. For example, the large upper back muscles are prone to developing myofascial pain that radiates from sensitive points, called trigger points throughout muscle tissue. Fascia is a band or sheet of connective tissue, primarily collagen, beneath the skin that attaches, stabilizes, encloses, and separates muscles and other internal organs.
40-, 60- and 90-minute sessions available.
What to Expect
Whether an infant, toddler or older child, parents are a part of the process as their presence helps make their child at ease. Throughout the treatment, the therapist will speak in a soothing voice with the parent present…asking permission to proceed for the child and parent to remain comfortable. The therapist may ask questions about the child's health history along the way to better facilitate the healing process. While very young children may have limited ways in which they can express themselves, the therapist gently guides the process with the parent's assistance to achieve a harmonious outcome.
